William (Bill) A. Braun peacefully passed away at home on Aug. 26, 2022, with his wife by his side. A private family prayer service was held the following day at Goetz Funeral Home in Washburn, ND.
Bill was born at home in Easton, MN on December 6, 1935. Bill enlisted in the Army in May of 1955. After serving a 2 year stint, Bill returned home in 1957, continuing to serve out his 8 year service obligation & receiving his honorable discharge in April of 1963.
In February of 1956, Bill met the love of his life, Jean Biesterfeld. They were married on December 7, 1958 in Wells, MN and resided in Easton MN where Bill began his career in the elevator business. Eventually, Bill & Jean moved to a farmstead outside of Wells, MN where they welcomed a baby girl & a baby boy into the household. They then purchased a home and moved to Minnesota Lake, MN and welcomed another baby boy into their family. While living Minnesota Lake, Bill was employed at the Minnesota Lake Farmers Elevator for 2 years.
In 1963, Bill took a manager's position at the Farmers Elevator in Alice, ND. The family resided in Alice for 3 years before moving to Dodge Center, MN when Bill accepted the manager's position at the Dodge County Service Elevator in Kasson, MN. After working a year in Kasson, the family moved north to Milton, ND where Bill managed Milton Farm Services. Two years later, the family moved south to Barney, ND where the family settled in while Bill managed Schuler's Elevator for the next 16 years.
In 1979, another baby boy was welcomed into the household and in 1985, Bill resigned from elevator management, moving his wife & youngest son to their lake home on Clitherall Lake, in MN. Bill worked at various jobs which included elevator work in Mooreton ND, Dwight ND, & Fergus Falls MN until he officially retired in 1999. After living on Clitherall Lake for 31 years, Bill and Jean moved to Wahpeton, ND, residing there for 5 years before moving to Washburn, ND. Where they had been living for almost a year before Bill's passing.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Arno & Celia Braun; a brother, Donald and his four sisters, Dorothy, Ruth, Renae and Flossie.
Bill's quirky sense of humor, as well as his long, drawn-out stories will forever be missed by his loving wife, Jean; daughter, Julene (Dale) Klosterman; sons, Duane (Renee) Braun, Craig (Marlys) Braun, Bobby Braun and significant other Alyssa Kieffer; grandchildren, Kaylene (Joe) Strand, Tyler Klosterman, Dreu Klosterman, Brandon (Justine) Braun, Lexi (Levi) Lawson; step grandchild, Jeff (Jodi) Erickson; great-grandchildren, Preston Hinson, Ivan & Clara Braun, Kinley & Ty Lawson; step great grandchildren, Myah & Wes Erickson; sister-in-law, Joyce (Bert) Salisbury, along with his many nieces & nephews.
