Wilbert R. Singer, 79, of Washburn, ND, passed away April 4, 2008 at a Bismarck hospital. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a memorial service. All friends and relatives will celebrate his life and mourn his passing in their own way.
Wilbert "Willie" was born August 6, 1928 at rural Turtle Lake, ND the son of Adolph and Rosina (Bauer) Singer. He was reared on his parent's farm south of Turtle Lake and attended rural school. As a young man, he worked for area farmers and for the McLean County Highway Department. He married Leora Landsiedel on November 27, 1953. They made their home in the Washburn area. For a number of years, they owned and operated Sheldon Oil Co. in Falkirk, ND. Willie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and his favorite activities included hunting and attending auction sales. He was a life member of the Bismarck/Mandan Elks Lodge #1199. Willie is survived by his wife, Leora of Washburn; his daughter, Carol and son-in-law Mike Scholl of Washburn; his brother, Walter (Shirley) Singer of Turtle Lake;
and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers (Jacob, Arthur, and Ernest); and 4 sisters (Amelia Grueneich, Elsie Bauer, Lorraine Swanson, and Ruth Gordon Goin);
