Warren C. Gabbert, age 86 of Turtle Lake, ND, formerly of Billings, MT, died peacefully of natural causes on January 3, 2010 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date (Summer 2010) in Billings, MT.

Warren "Gabby" was born May 22, 1923 in Hankinson, ND to William & Susie (Hentz) Gabbert. He attended rural school in the Hankinson area until the ninth grade. Warren started driving truck at an early age and it became his life-long career. He moved to Billings, MT in 1959 and was employed with H.F. Johnson, Inc. and Drinkwalter & Sons Trucking, hauling petroleum products and working as a distributor operator. He retired in 1991 due to an ankle injury. Warren married and divorced Vivian Muck and later married Patricia (Fargo) Jones on Aug. 5, 1967 in Billings. Warren enjoyed fishing and hunting and passed down his love of the outdoors to his family. He moved to Turtle Lake, ND on July 1, 2009.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Gabbert of Turtle Lake; one daughter, Kathy (Will) Williams of Turtle Lake; three step-sons, William (Karen) Jones of Billings, MT, David (Kris) Jones of Kodiak, AK, & Jeff (Laurie) Jones of Molt, MT; eight grandchildren, Thor, Britta, Sonja, Jacob, Tasha, Justin, John, & Kristen; one sister-in-law, Irene Gabbert of Hankinson, ND; one brother-in-law, A.C. Helmbrecht of Billings, MT; several nieces & nephews and many friends.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Lawrence, Louis, & David), and one sister (Ione Helmbrecht).
