Wanda Lee Schlichenmayer, 72, Mercer, ND died September 20. 2024 from injuries sustained in motor vehicle accident near Wilton, ND. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, September 27, 2024 at the Coleharbor Cemetery.  There will also be a celebration of life gathering at Chester's Tavern in Mercer from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM also on Friday.

Wanda was born July15, 1952 in Garrison, ND the daughter of Erwin and Gloria (Boots) Bruestle.  She was raised and educated in Riverdale and graduated from the Riverdale High School in 1970.  She also attended college in Dickinson and Minot.  She married Paul Schlichenmayer in 1972 in Rapid City, SD.  They lived near Riverdale and eventually settled near Turtle Lake.  Wanda stayed at home and raised her family.  She later worked at the Turtle Lake Hospital as a dietitian and volunteered for the Turtle Lake Ambulance.  Wanda moved to Mercer where she co-owned Chester's Tavern with Al Toman.  They later sold the business but continues to live in Mercer.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, playing games on her tablet, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Carol (Kory) Kauk of Baldwin; her two sons, Jaimie Schlichenmayer of Turtle Lake and J.J. Schlichenmayer of Mercer; her grandchildren, Trevor (McKenzie), Michael Marie, Desmond, Charlie, Cordelia, Caleb, Camille and Caden; her two great grandchildren, Remington and Wynonna; her sister Pam (Mike) Hennes of Grand Forks, ND and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Stephan and Jeffery and special friend, Al Toman.

Memorials are preferred to Wanda's family.
