Violet Swanson Olson, 97, Turtle Lake, ND died August 25, 2024 in a Minot, ND care center.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 30, 2024 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Turtle Lake with Pastor Paul Schauer officiating.  Interment will be held in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.  The funeral service will be livestreamed at the bottom of Violet's obituary on this page.

Violet was born October 18, 1926 the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth (Rothmann) Sayler.  She attended country school.  She married Warren Swanson on September 11, 1949 and they made their home NW of Turtle Lake and raised their three children.  Warren died on January 25, 1997.  Violet worked at the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake as a cook for over twenty years.  She married Conrad Olson on November 26, 2011 and they made their home in Turtle Lake.  They moved to Edgewood in Minot in the fall of 2023.

She attended St. Olaf Lutheran Church for nearly seventy years.  Violet enjoyed gardening, taking care of her flowers and playing cards.

She is survived by her husband, Conrad of Minot; her daughter, Donna Sandvik of South Heart, ND; her sons, Dan (Sue) Swanson of Bowman, ND and Randy (Sandy) Swanson of Max, ND; her grandchildren, Alissa (Branddon) Weece, Jonathan (Ariel) Sandvik, Kristina (Christopher) Jung, Darick (Courtney) Swanson, Kate Olson, Dustin (Jettie) Swanson, Cody (Randi) Swanson, Carly (Nate) Swanson-Harris and Keegan (Cassidy) Swanson; 21 great grandchildren; her brothers, Wilmer Sayler of Beulah, Roy Sayler of Minot, Ralph (Linda) Sayler of Garrison and Delbert (Cletus) Sayler of Bismarck and many nieces and nephews.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband of 47 years, Warren; a granddaughter, Ashley Swanson; a brother, Orlen Sayler and a son-in-law, Daniel Sandvik.
