Verna Gardiner, age 83 of Bismarck, formerly of Mercer, ND, died Monday, Dec. 5th at the Medcenter One St. Vincent's Care Center in Bismarck.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, Dec. 9th at Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 N. 4th St. in Bismarck, with Pastor Steve Sathre officiating.
Interment will be in the Mercer Hillside Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to time of service at the church.
Verna was born March 25, 1928 in Martin, ND, one of fourteen children born to Emanuel Sr. & Marie (Berg) Hinsz. She married George E. Gardiner in 1947. Together they owned and operated the U-Save Market in Mercer for 32 years. Verna also worked as a cook for the Mercer Public School and operated the Brush Lake Pavilion restaurant during the summer months. Her husband George passed away in November 1983 and shortly after she moved to Bismarck. Verna worked various jobs in Bismarck and volunteered at area schools. She enjoyed doing craftwork and spending time at her cabin on Brush Lake.
She is survived by her five children, Georgia (Dale) Brown of Fargo, Willa (Ray) Murray of Mercer, Palma (Marvin) Bauer of Bismarck, Dan (Michelle) Gardiner of Bismarck, & Ross Gardiner of Newcastle, CO; eleven grandchildren, Ivy (Brad) Jacobson, Ann (Brandon) Domholt, Levi Murray, Tess (fiancée Chris) Murray, Jamie (Rebecca) Bauer, Jenny (Brian) Fettig, Ross (Jahna) Gardiner, Becky (Jesse) Vossler, Luke Gardiner, J.P. (Codi) Feland, & Jon Gardiner; 7 great grandchildren; and one sister, Amanda Buscher of Oregon.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents, husband (George), & twelve siblings.
