Verdjie A. Emineth, 84, formerly of Washburn, ND, went to her heavenly home on April 1, 2022 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Williston, ND. She battled pulmonary fibrosis and CHF for the last 15 months. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at St. Edwin's Catholic Church in Washburn with Father Patrick Cunningham officiating. Interment will be held in St. Bonaventure's Catholic Cemetery, Underwood. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. The funeral Mass will be livestreamed at the bottom of her obituary, on this page.
Verdjie was born July 19, 1937 in Underwood the daughter of Theodore and Evelyn (Stadick) Anderson. She was raised and educated in Underwood. She married Clarence Brown Jr. on June 12, 1955 at St. Bonaventure's Catholic Church. Verdjie worked at the café and hotel in Underwood. She later went to work in Mandan where she met and married Gerald Landenberger on October 12, 1962. They lived on a farm west of Underwood before moving to a farm North of Washburn in 1968. They farmed until Gerald's death in 1984. Verdjie moved into Washburn where she worked at Emineth's Super Valu and later Krause's. She married Raymond Emineth on October 26, 1990 at St. Edwin's Catholic Church in Washburn. Raymond died in 2008 and Verdjie continued to live in Washburn and worked at the grocery store until retiring in 2019. She moved to Williston in October of 2020 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
She enjoyed doing word search books, watching Wheel of Fortune and before moving to Williston, having coffee with her daily coffee groups. Verdjie will always be remembered for her love of her grandchildren, they meant the world to her. She was a member of St. Edwin's Catholic Church.
Verdjie is survived by her daughters, Diane (Jonny) Nelson of Williston and Kathy Ann (Rick) Stodieck of Richfield, MN; her grandchildren, Dolan and Janessa Nelson of Williston; her step-children, Kathy Blackwell of Phoenix, AZ, Duane Emineth of Tucson, AZ, Gary (Deone) Emineth of Bismarck, Karen (Jeff) Roeder of Cottage Grove, OR, Glen Emineth of Lincoln, ND and Earlene (Bryan) Rothmann of Washburn; 12 step-grandchildren and 19 step-great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo (Kathy) Anderson of Underwood, James (Kathy) Anderson Oakdale, CA, Bobbie Anderson of Grants, NM and Carol VanCuten-Wright of Elk Grove, CA and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her son, Michael Lee Brown; her grandson, Victor John Kesselring; her sister, Donna Mindt; her brothers, Robert "Bob", Dennis, Blaine and Dwaine; 4 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren.
