Tillie Radke, age 102 of Underwood, ND, died November 10th, 2013 at the Benedictine Living Center of Garrison, ND.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 14th at Faith Evangelical Church in Underwood with Pastor Jeff Higbie officiating. Interment will follow in the Underwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Goetz Funeral Home in Underwood followed by a 7:00 PM prayer service.

Mathilda "Tillie" was born May 7, 1911 to Herman & Ranghild (Oie) Linder in McLean County, ND. She was raised on her parent's farm and attended the rural Reuter School through the 8th grade, completing in 1927. In 1922, at the age of 11, her mother passed away from tuberculosis. Tillie took on the roll as mother to her two younger siblings and assisted her father with farming responsibilities. In 1933, Tillie married Elmer Radke at the Swedish Lutheran Church in Underwood. From this union, four children were born. In 1952, Tillie contracted tuberculosis and spent nine months in the San Haven Sanitarium. Following her release from the Sanitarium she convalesced at home until her health returned.

Tillie worked as a cook and waitress in several area restaurants and enjoyed visiting with patrons. She later worked as a cook at the Underwood School until she retired. Tillie loved to bake, especially at Christmas, and everyone knew that she would always have coffee on and baked goods prepared at her home. Her second love was making quilts, which numbered many. Each one of her children and grandchildren received a special quilt made with love from every stitch she put in them. Tillie also held a very large doll collection which she kept in showcases in her living room.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Underwood where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and taught Sunday school for many years.

She is survived by three sons, Percy (Ardith) Radke of Minot, Doyle (Karen) Radke of Minot, & Jerry (Janine) Radke of Underwood; one daughter, Sharon (Jack) Blotsky of Williston; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren.

Tillie was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Elmer), stillborn son (Virgil), one brother (Ernest Linder), one sister (Agnes Forland, one granddaughter (Carmen Rae Radke),& one grandson (Barry Radke.
