Obituary

Thomas Leidy, age 66 of Wilton, ND died Saturday, May 24 at his home in Wilton.

Funeral Services: 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 28, 2008;
Sunne Lutheran Church – 6 miles east of Wilton on Hwy. 36;
Rev. Paul Schauer, Officiating.

Interment: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery – Mandan, ND;
Military Rites provided by the V.F.W. Post 1326 Honor Guard of Bismarck.

Visitation: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Tuesday and a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at
First Presbyterian Church in Wilton;
Wednesday, one hour prior to time of service at Sunne Lutheran Church.

Thomas A. Leidy was born July 31, 1941 in Sharon, PA the son to Ivan & Margaret (Bailey) Leidy. He attended school in Sharon, PA and graduated from Sharon High School in 1959. Following his high school graduation, Tom joined the U.S. Air Force and served as an B-52 jet-engine mechanic at the Minot Air Force Base for four years. He married Kay Marchant on July 14, 1963 in Columbus, ND. Tom worked for Northwestern Equipment in Minot for one year before attending the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton. He received an Associate of Electronics degree and became employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Rugby, ND where he worked for twelve years. Tom and his family moved to Polson, MT for one year before moving to Wilton, ND in 1979. Tom worked for Bell Telephone Co. in Bismarck for a short time and in 1983 started his employment with Northern Plains Natural Gas of Mandan. In 1992, Tom retired due to health complications. He was a member of Sunne Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post of Rugby, ND. Tom was a loving husband and father. In his spare time, he loved to hunt and enjoyed time outdoors. In recent years, he enjoyed spending time near the Wilton Pond. He was known to tinker with anything that had electricity flowing through it and place a wrench on anything that contained a motor. Tom is remembered for his ability to fix nearly anything and was willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Kay of Wilton; one daughter, Traci (Jon) Blank and children Hannah & Olivia of Kennewick, WA; two sons, Trevor (Stacy) Leidy and daughter Ella of Wilton, and Trevor's son Taylor of Moorhead, MN, Matthew (Darla) Leidy and children Jacob & Madison of Wilton; three sisters, Bonnie (Jim) Crytzer of Oil City, PA, Carol McKnight of Masury, OH, & Noreen (Phil) Owen of Sharon, PA; and his mother-in-law, Clara Westerness of Bismarck.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law (Tony Westerness).
