Terrence Ramon Sayler was born September 5, 1943 in Bismarck, ND, the youngest of three children born to Rhinold C. & Loretta E. (Granstrom) Sayler. He was raised on the family farm 12 miles northeast of Washburn. Terry attended the Veeder country school and Washburn Public School. He graduated from Washburn High School in 1961. He continued his education at North Dakota State University for one year before returning to the farm to help his father and brother. Following his father's retirement in 1977, Terry partnered with his brother Jim in the farming business. Terry farmed for several years and later pursued an interest in funeral service by attending the Mid-America College of Mortuary Science in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Terry graduated from mortuary school in 1983 and served his internship with Peterson-Schult Funeral Home in Valley City, ND. As a licensed funeral director and embalmer, Terry moved to Hazen, ND in 1985 where he was employed with the Aarthun-Goetz Funeral Home. In 1990, Terry returned to the Washburn area where he was employed with Goetz Funeral Home for several years. He spent a short time managing a funeral home in Brookings, Oregon before returning to the family farm north of Washburn, ND in 2003. While living on the farmstead, Terry enjoyed planting flowers every Spring. He was widely known for his beautiful flower gardens and exceptionally manicured yard. Terry returned to work part-time for Goetz Funeral Home until his retirement in 2013. In February 2014, Terry fulfilled his retirement dream of moving to Arizona. He purchased a home near Queen Creek and enjoyed spending his days relaxing in his back yard pool, reading, decorating his yard, and visiting with neighbors. He greatly appreciated having visitors from North Dakota. Terry was known and esteemed for his "green thumb" and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others. He was a faithful member of the Washburn United Methodist Church.

Terry is survived by his brother, James "Jim" (Sandy) Sayler of Underwood, ND; sister, Royann Archer of Fargo, ND; several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew.
