Sydney Zingg, 97, of Turtle Lake, ND died June 14, 2017 at CHI Community Memorial Hospital, Turtle Lake.  Memorial services will be held at 3:00pm Friday, June 23, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake with Pastor Sondra Krogstad officiating. Military services will be presented by the Turtle Lake American Legion.

Sydney Bruce Zingg was born November 2, 1919 in McLean County the son of Jack and Pauline (Frank) Zingg.  He was raised on the family homestead and attended country school. He also attended the Underwood High School and graduated from high school in California as the family moved out west.  Sydney joined the U.S. Army in 1941 where he specialized in electronics. He served in Australia and that is where he met his wife.  Sydney married Valerie Payne in New South Wales, Australia in 1944.

Sydney and Valerie had one son, Sheldon Bruce Zingg who was born on January 22, 1960 in Berkeley, CA.  Sheldon passed away on October 24, 2013 in Hazen, ND.

Sydney was proud to serve his country and was a member of the American Legion for 26 years.

He is survived by his six grandchildren, Ryan, Cyndee, Jason, Casey, Sawyer and Cody; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and their families.

Sydney was preceded in death by his parents, wife Valerie, son Sheldon and his siblings, Irene, Gordon, Elwood, Jack and an infant brother.
