Obituary

Steven "Steve" Gieser, 77, of Washburn, ND, died February 15, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his family.  Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March, 1, 2024 at 11:00AM at First Lutheran Church, Washburn with Pastor Randy Emgarten officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.

Steve was born October 17, 1946 in Minot, ND to Maximilin and Evelyn "Lenora" (Lein) Gieser. He was the 5th of 6 siblings. Steve was raised and educated in Minot. He joined the United States Army in September of 1963 and was honorably discharged in January of 1965.

He met Dixie Drader in August of 1968, to this union he was blessed with five children: Tammy, Travis, Tonya, Todd, and Troy. Steve worked various jobs and eventually moved his family to Underwood, ND. He was involved in the construction of Coal Creek Power Plant where he went on to be employed for 17 years.

In 1992 Steve had enough of the cold North Dakota weather and decided to move to Lake Havesu, AZ. He stayed there for about a year until moving to Denver, CO.

Steve met his soul mate Joyce Campbell and they were united in marriage in December of 1995. He gained two step-daughters: Tammy and Cheri and one step-granddaughter Felicia. Steve and Joyce enjoyed spending time dancing and visiting various casinos in the area. While working for Ramblin Express, Steve had the opportunity to provide shuttle service to and from the Olympic Village for athletes during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. The couple lived around the Denver area until Joyce's passing in January of 2015. Steve then moved back to Washburn where he spent the last nine years.

He enjoyed camping and spending his best days fishing on Lake Sakakawea, with those he loved. Steve looked forward to the annual Gieser family reunion and fish fest held at Van Hook Campground where he made lifelong memories. He went on a bucket list fishing trip in Alaska fishing for Halibut, in 2019. Steve was well known for sharing great stories, random jam sessions, political views, and his love for all of his family. One of Steve's greatest accomplishments was his 38 years of sobriety.

Dad you will be missed beyond measure.
