Stanley J. Forstner, age 79 of Hensler, ND, died Sunday, February 17, 2008 at his home following a lengthy illness.

7:00 PM Prayer Service at the funeral home;
Thursday, 1 hour prior to time of service at the church.
Stanley John Forstner was born July 6, 1928 at Madelia, MN, the son to Theodore & Mary (Housfelt) Forstner. He attended school in Madelia and enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1947. Stan was stationed in Japan and was honorably discharged in November 1949. He returned to Madelia and married Reba Talley on Oct. 6, 1956. They made their home in Madelia and raised five children. Reba's life was cut short by cancer and she passed away on Sept. 10, 1976. Stan relocated his family to Hensler, ND in 1977. He married Barbara Scharberg on Dec. 21, 1984 in Rapid City, SD. Barb passed away in August 2005 from complications of heart disease. Stan was a welder by trade. He owned and operated Forstner Welding & Trenching Service in Madelia, MN and also worked on the Distant Early Warning line in the Arctic Circle. He was employed by the Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. helping build fuel storage tanks in Vietnam. Stan worked in the power plant construction industry for many years and was a member of the Boilermakers Union #647. He retired as a boilermaker in 1989. Stan loved the great outdoors and all it had to offer until the day he passed away.
He is survived by three daughters & two sons, Joyce (Glenn) Koch of Wheaton, MN, Russell T. (Diane) Forstner of Aitkin, MN, Janet DeVaney of Mesa, AZ, Lori (Bill) Otis of New Ulm, MN, & Chris Forstner of Turlock, CA; ten grandchildren, Krisha, Kerry, Jessica, Chris, Randy, Tracey, Kayla, Harley, Taylor, Corey; & six great grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas Forstner of Austin, MN, Larry Forstner of Sumter, SC, & Bob Forstner of Fargo, ND; two sisters, Audrey Schick of Bloomington, MN, & Florence Hibbard of Ely, NV; and many nieces & nephews.
Stan was preceded in death by his wives, Reba & Barbara; parents, Theodore & Mary; one sister, Margaret; & one brother, Francis.
