Sophia K. Grenz, age 82 of Washburn, ND died Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at her home in Washburn. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Riverview Cemetery in Williston, ND.

Sophia was born December 2, 1923 in Medina, ND the daughter to William and Katie (Layer) Trautman. She attended school in Medina and later moved to Jamestown, ND where she worked at the State Hospital. She married Samuel Phillip Grenz on December 27, 1943 at Medina. They established their home in Jamestown before moving to Washburn, ND. Sophia managed the Grand Motel in Washburn until moving to Williston, ND in 1967. She was employed as a housekeeping supervisor at the Plainsman Hotel and also worked for the U.S. Corp of Engineers Office and Dr. Ritters Denistry. Sophia moved back to Washburn in 1997 and resided at the Courtwood Apartments.

She is survived by 2 Daughters: Pat (O'Dell) Jesser of Washburn, ND; & Gerry (Dennis) Walcker of Kingman, AZ; 4 Grandchildren & 7 Great-Grandchildren.
