Shirley "Shirl" A. Rutter, 76, Bismarck, ND died December 17, 2022 at St. Gabriel's - A Benedictine Living Community, Bismarck.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday. May 5, 2023 at the Turtle Lake Cemetery, Turtle Lake.

Shirley was born July 5, 1946 in Turtle Lake, ND the daughter of Franklin and Olive (Isaacson) Rutter.  She was raised and educated in Turtle Lake.  She graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1964.  She also attended Minot State Teachers College where she received a teaching certificate.  Shirley taught school in Flasher, Leeds and York until retiring.

She volunteered for many organizations, some of which include, Dakota Action Services, Open Door Community Center and The North Dakota Nurses Association.

Shirley enjoyed crocheting and made over 100 afghan's.  She also enjoyed caring for her parents, exercising, fishing and her cats.

She is survived by her brother, Wallace (Thommie) Rutter of Grafton, ND; her niece, Mary (Jeff) Curtis of Barien, WA and her great niece, Vanesa Curtis and many cousins.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Lowell and Kenneth and a nephew, Wallace A. Rutter Jr.
