Shirley Goldsack, 80, of Underwood, formerly of Stanton, CA, passed onto her eternal reward on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at a Bismarck hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, Jan. 2nd , 2012, at Goetz Funeral Home in Washburn with Pastor Marvin Winstryg, officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the McClusky Cemetery.

Shirley May Forrest was born Aug. 22, 1931, in Grandview, Manitoba, Canada, to Arthur and Mary (Found) Forrest. She was raised on the family farm in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba. On Jan. 26, 1952, Shirley married Rev. Henry Goldsack, shortly after their marriage they went to pastor at the Swan River Gospel Tabernacle. A daughter, Cheryl Faith, was born March 27, 1953, and in January 1956, the family moved to McClusky, ND. Their sons, Gerald Lee, came along Sept. 11, 1957, and Dwight Arthur was born and died in 1959. After several years with the Assemblies of God , the family was brought into the Methodist Church and served churches in North Dakota at Rock Lake, Mott, Drake, Streeter and Wimbledon. Shirley worked at the Anne Carlson Center in Jamestown while living in Wimbledon. She always enjoyed creating and tending her flowerbeds and loved watching the hummingbirds that seemed to follow. She spent a great deal of her time reading and especially loved to read her Bible. Shirley enjoyed singing, and in her younger days, sang with her sisters in a group. Following Henry's retirement, they moved to Cimarron, N.M. In March of 1992, they moved to Artesia, N.M. In 1995, Shirley moved to Anaheim, CA., to help her daughter, Cheryl. While living with Cheryl, Shirley went to work for the Orange County School System. In 1999, Henry also moved to California, where they resided until his passing on Aug. 29, 2011. At that time Shirley moved back to North Dakota so she could spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived with her son, Jerry and his family, until she moved into the Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood in October 2011.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Cheryl, Anaheim; her son, Jerry and his wife, Clarissa, Wilton; two grandsons, Nathan (Bridget), Mandan, and Daniel, Bismarck; one granddaughter, Shannon Goldsack, Wilton; 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dianne Ewanyshyn, Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, and Verda Drinkwater, Edmonton, Alberta; two brothers, Alvin Forrest, Gilbert Plains, and Garfield (Irene) Forrest, Debert, Novia Scotia; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her parents; one brother, Bob; one sister, Lorna; and her infant son, Dwight.
