Sheldon Christopher Berg, age 33, of Underwood, ND passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009 from injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident on November 24th.
A Celebration of Sheldon's life will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Underwood School Gymnasium with Pastor Dan Maurer, officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Underwood with a family service to follow. Visitation will continue Saturday, one hour prior to time of service at the school.
Sheldon was born in Bismarck on April 16, 1976 to Steve & Ellen (Opsal) Berg. They moved to Underwood when he was 6 yrs old and he attended Underwood Public School graduating in 1994. Sheldon was an outstanding basketball and football player for the Comets and was chosen to participate in the Montana-North Dakota Football bowl. Sheldon went on to attend school at Dickinson State, Wahpeton, and Bismarck State College where he obtained his associate degree in Ag. Management.
At a young age, Sheldon learned the ins and outs of farming by working alongside his dad Steve, his grandfather Emil, and his uncle Mike. Harvest was his favorite time of the year and especially running the combine. His last harvest and combining experience was with his uncle Ervin this fall. Sheldon enjoyed being outdoors. He loved hunting, skiing, softball, camping, boating, and spending days at the lake with friends.
Sheldon was employed with Butler Machinery which he joined in 2003 and was one of the first employees to start selling Ag equipment. He was recently working out of the Minot office. His current project entailed providing rental equipment to the wind farm project located south of Minot.
Sheldon was raised, baptized, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Underwood, ND.
Sheldon's true passion and love in life were his two beautiful daughters. He enjoyed taking them to the lake, the park, on bike rides, Sugarland concerts, letting them do his hair, and just loving on him. Sheldon loved country music and especially Sugarland. He was truly a genuine, caring, honest, respectful, and lovable guy. He was a wonderful father, brother, son, uncle, cousin, and friend. Sheldon will be missed most for his quiet strength, his big bear hugs and his comforting kiss to your forehead.
Along with countless friends and family, Sheldon is survived by his parents, Steve & Ellen Berg; two sisters, Stephanie Neff & Jennifer Berg; brother-in-law, Cody Neff; his nieces, Sidney and Emerson; his nephew, Carter; and his two precious daughters, Jayden & Jewell Berg and their mother Angela Berg.
The family prefers memorials be directed to a Trust Fund being established for his two daughters.
