Ruthie Kastrow, age 80 of Mandan, formerly of Underwood, died Friday, October 15th at a Bismarck hospital.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, Oct. 18th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Underwood with Pastor Dean Hartley officiating.
Burial will be in the Underwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, one hour prior to time of service at the church.
Ruthie was born October 14, 1930 near Hazen, ND to David & Emma (Birkholz) Pischel. As a child, she attended rural school and worked on the family farm. Ruthie married Norman Torgrimson in 1955 and from this union three children were born. She married Hilbert D. Kastrow in 1963 and from this union two children were born. Both marriages ended in divorce. Ruthie worked as a bartender and housekeeper for many years in the Underwood and Riverdale, ND area. She enjoyed attending auction sales, rummage sales, and playing bingo. She made her home in Underwood until 2006 when she moved to the Medcenter One Living Center in Mandan.
She is survived by four children, Ron Torgrimson of Bismarck, Carol (Robert) Bornhoeft of Mandan, Wanda (David) Holmberg of Superior, WI, & Jerome "Butch" (Shawn) Kastrow of Underwood; six grandchildren, Billie Kastrow, Duane Bornhoeft, Jarrod Kastrow, Mario Smirl, Amanda Jean Kastrow, & Amanda Sue Kastrow; one great grandchild, Hailey Richter; & one sister, Jean Neuberger of The Dalles, OR.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, one son (Kelly Torgrimson), one granddaughter (Alicia Bornhoeft), her former husbands (Norman & Hilbert), and a special friend (Russell Woodliff).
