Ruth Olson, age 86 of Underwood, ND died Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Medcenter One Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, Dec. 29th at the Goetz Funeral Home chapel in Underwood with Pastor Joel Sherer officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Coleharbor, ND.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to time of service.

Ruth was born March 28, 1925 in Underwood, ND to Rudolph & Erna (Fredrich) Home. She attended school in Underwood and graduated from high school in 1943. She married Walter Olson on June 9, 1946 in Underwood. Ruth was baptized, confirmed, and married by the same Pastor Weber at St. John's Lutheran Church. After her marriage, she joined the Bethel Lutheran Church of Malcolm Township where she was active in Ladies Aid and served as a Sunday school teacher. She also served on the church council until the church closed in 1991. For many years, Ruth was a devout and hardworking wife of a farmer. She was the official go-getter and cook of her and Walter's custom combining crew. Together, she and Walter operated a custom-combining business for 46 years. They retired in 2003 and moved into Underwood. In her later years, she attended St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Coleharbor and Augustana Lutheran Church in Underwood. She is not survived by any immediate family members.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Walter), & one sister (Frieda).
