Russ was born on May 28th, 1958, in Bismarck, ND to Glenn and Helen (Heupel) Olson. He graduated from Century High School and attended and graduated from Minnesota State University at Moorhead with a Criminal Justice degree.
Russ married Dorinda Schulz on October 1st, 1994, and began a family. Together they had four children, Katlyn, Emma, Aaron, and Noah. He also cherished a special bond with Spencer Schulz, who called him dad. Three of his children are pursuing degrees in Secondary Education, while Aaron spends his days following in his dad's footsteps working at Krause's Super Market, and Spencer spends his days in school with his friends. He loved watching all the activities his children participated in from football to cheerleading and school plays if he could hear them. He was an avid Rams and Dodgers fan, and loved watching his teams play while switching to westerns on the commercial breaks.
He spent his life working in various grocery stores around North Dakota, and said he never wanted to do anything else. In 2008, Russ and his family moved to Washburn, ND, where he was appointed general manager of Krause's Super Market. Russ loved all his time spent at his store and had a true passion for working in the grocery business.
Russ is survived by his children, Katlyn, Emma, Aaron, and Noah Olson, as well as Spencer Schulz, all of Washburn, ND, his sister, Linnett (Scott) Schmidkunz of Bismarck, ND, his sister-in-law, Gayle Olson of Bismarck, ND, his former spouse Dorinda Olson of Washburn, ND, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and his cat Patches.
