Obituary

Rose Sellon, age 99 of Velva, ND, formerly of Turtle Lake and Bismarck, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva.

Funeral Services: 10:30 AM Monday, June 26, 2006;
Turtle Lake Baptist Church - Turtle Lake, ND;
Rev. Oliver Bender, Officiating;
Interment: Turtle Lake Cemetery;
Visitation: 5:00-9:00 PM Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home - Turtle Lake;
Monday, 1 hour prior to time of service at the church.

Rose was born May 15, 1907 in Romania, the daughter of Ludwig K. & Jacobina (Bohnet) Klain. She moved with her family to America as an infant. She was raised on a farm 12 miles northwest of Turtle Lake, ND and attended rural school. Rose married Guy E. Sellon on October 21, 1927 at Turtle Lake and they made their home on a farm northwest of Turtle Lake. In 1928, they moved into Turtle Lake where they lived for many years. Rose worked in a grocery store for Harley Holtan for many years. She and her husband owned and operated a hatchery, feed and seed store for many years in Turtle Lake. Rose enjoyed sewing, making many brides dresses and was known for her large doll collection. She also enjoyed making crafts. Guy Sellon, her husband of 55 years, passed away in January 1983. Rose continued to make her home in Turtle Lake until 1998 when she moved to Bismarck. She became a resident of the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva in the fall of 2005.

She is survived by 4 Grandchildren: Glenda Martinez, Gordon Granlie, Gayle Martinez, & Geneva Scheer; several Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren;
& many Nieces & Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Guy), son (James), daughter (Evelyn Granlie),
4 brothers & 6 sisters.
