Obituary

Ronald Sigurdson, 75, of Coleharbor, ND died July 31, 2017 at the St. Alexius Garrison Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Friday, August 4 th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Riverdale, ND with Pastor VanVechten Crane officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleharbor Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday at the Goetz Funeral Chapel in Underwood. Visitation will continue on Friday, one hour prior to time of service at the church in Riverdale.

Ronald J. was born October 4, 1941 in Minot, ND to Herbert & Josephine (Kerzmann) Sigurdson. Ron attended Coleharbor Public School and nearly lived his entire life on the family farm near Coleharbor. He married Sharon Watters on June 16, 1961 in Riverdale, ND. Ron spent most of his career farming, which he held close to his heart, but was also employed with Great Plains Lumber, Fisher Sand & Gravel, and lastly the Falkirk Mine for 22 years. Ron was active with the Underwood Jaycees, the Bismarck Elks Lodge #1199, and the Bismarck Moose Lodge #302. He served as a past-president of the Garrison Wagon Train and was a charter member of the "Rambling Nodaks", a local family motor coach association. Ron enjoyed traveling and was a long-time member of the Good Sam Club. In retirement, he and Sharon loved spending winters down south. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising a large garden. He was a life-long Minnesota Vikings fan and possessed a tremendous collection of farm implement toys. Ron was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Sigurdson of Coleharbor; one son, Peter (Debbie) Sigurdson of Minot; one daughter, Rhonda (Dennis) Fritts of Bismarck; three grandchildren, Lucas Sigurdson of Tioga, Lexi Sigurdson of Winnipeg, Manitoba, & Ashley Fritts of Bismarck; two great-grandchildren, Aiden & Levon; two sisters-in-law, Veronica Sigurdson of Eau Claire, WI, & Sandra Hallett of Muscatine, IA; and numerous nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, one brother (Robert), niece (Kristina Sigurdson), and several aunts and uncles.

The family prefers memorials to the Elks Camp Grassick (PO Box F, Dawson, ND 58428).
