Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) Leidholm, a devoted husband, loving father, and dedicated farmer. Ron, born on April 18, 1936, peacefully departed this world surrounded by the love of his family.

Born at the family homestead farmhouse and baptized at St. Bonaventure Church, in Underwood. Ron ventured beyond his roots to pursue an education earning a master's degree in Mathematics.  His early career led him to New Salem, North Dakota, where he met his wife, before settling in Washburn, North Dakota, where he dedicated himself to educating generations of senior students in math, physics, and chemistry. However, Ron's true passion was always farming.

After 25 years of teaching, Ron retired to focus solely on farming, building a successful operation with the help of two of his sons, ultimately growing the business to up to 9,000 acres at its peak.

Even in retirement, Ron could be found behind the wheel of a tractor or running errands for his sons, remaining connected to the land that brought him so much joy. His dedication to hard work and his love for the farm were evident in every furrow he plowed and every crop he harvested.

Ron was also heavily involved with the community serving as a board member of Cenex, St. Edwin's church council, and a member of the Masons and the local Shriner's organization, where he spent many hours volunteering and making lifelong friends.

Ron was not only a dedicated Shriner and farmer but also a loving and supportive father. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, ensuring they had the opportunity to pursue higher education. Though he grew up in a generation that didn't always express emotions openly, Ron's love was evident in his actions and the advice he shared, and in later years, hugs.

Ron also cherished the opportunity to travel and explore new cuisines, with family dinners at new restaurants being a favorite pastime.

As we mourn the loss of Ron, we also celebrate the depth of the impact he had on our lives. Our hearts are broken, but we find solace in the knowledge that we were blessed to have such an amazing man as part of our family. Ron will be dearly missed but forever remembered with love and gratitude.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary (Archer) Leidholm, and leaves behind a legacy of five children: Jeff (Nancy), Jim (Lori), Steve (Shelly), Kelly (Jodi) and Patty (Tom), and grandchildren Kayla, Kadie, Kelcie (David), Jake (Meg), Alisha (Scott), Lauryn, Matt, Alex, Sam, Steven, Michael (Sarah), Sara and their families. Ron took immense joy in his role as a father, and grandfather and his family expanded to include step-great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating a network of love and support that spans generations.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Floyd and Margarita (Rita) Corckory, a brother, Larry Leidholm and a sister, Faye (Whitey) Whitecotton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital in Ron's memory.
