Roger W. Daub, 84, of rural Center, ND died on Veterans Day, November 11, 2013 in the Turtle Lake Community Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn, ND. Officiating will be the Rev. Erik Johnson. Interment will be held at a later date in the Daub Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home.
Roger was born March 29, 1929 at Ft. Clark, ND the son of William and Mary (Kocourek) Daub. He was raised and educated in Ft. Clark, Senger and Mandan, ND. He served in the US Air Force as a tail gunner and was honorably discharged at the age of 16. Roger worked as Studebaker mechanic for Gillman's Automotive in Bismarck. He married Gladys Jahner on April 15, 1950 in Bismarck. Following their marriage he worked on the Garrison Dam and in many states as a boilermaker.
Roger and Gladys settled on a farm west of Washburn in 1970. Roger worked in the area power plants until retiring in the late 1980's.
They continued to live west of Washburn. Gladys died on October 15, 2012.
Roger was a member of the Boilermakers Local 647 and enjoyed flying airplanes, hunting, fishing and restoring old cars.
Roger is survived by a daughter, Nicki Daub, Center, ND; two grandchildren: Chad Hardt (companion Amy) of Center, ND, Haley (Brandon) Anderson of Fargo, ND; a brother, Jim (Mary Jo) Kellar of Woodland, WA; a sister, Doris Schauss of Kennewick, WA, several nieces and nephews and a good friend, Rick Shine of Bismarck, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2012, and a sister, Karen Kellar.
