Obituary

Robert "Bob" Frank, 70, of Washburn, ND, died September 9, 2023 at Sanford Health, Bismarck, ND.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Friday, September 15, 2023 at First Lutheran Church, Washburn, ND with Pastor Paul Krueger officiating.  Burial will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, rural Beulah, ND on Friday at 2:00pm.  Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the church in Washburn.

Robert Phillip Frank was born January 6th, 1953 in Hazen, ND, the son of Emil and Elizabeth (Keller) Frank.  He was baptized at Concordia Lutheran Church in Beulah, ND on January 25, 1953 and confirmed June 2, 1968.  His education started at Ash District 12 rural school south of Zap, ND.  He began 4th grade at Beulah Elementary School and graduated from Beulah High school in May 1971.  Upon graduation he joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged In October of 1975.

July 25, 1972 he married Marlene Lorraine Stevens from Glendive, MT at Belle Fouche, SD.  They started their family in Athens, Greece where he was stationed with the Air Force for two and one half years.  This is where the oldest son Christopher was born.

He returned stateside in February, 1975 and completed his tour of duty at Glasgow Air Force Base, Glasgow, MT.  After his discharge he completed a Master course in Color Television Servicing and obtained his Second Class FCC license while working at Carl's TV and Appliance in Glendive, MT, where he and his family lived until 1977. Second son Eric was born here.

In 1977 Bob and his family moved to Underwood, ND where he began work at United Power Association as a radio communications technician and instrumentation technician/electrician at their high voltage direct current facility. In 1979 they moved to Washburn, ND where third son Aaron was born.  In Washburn he had a sideline business (Bob's Repair) repairing TVs and audio equipment well into the 1980s.

In 2010 he retired from Great River Energy and started Helper Guy, LLC doing building repairs, landscaping, and was a jack of all trades if someone needed help with a project they were working on.  If he didn't know how to fix your problem, he would go out of his way to refer you to somebody that could. He also helped out with the Washburn Veterans Memorial.

He was an active member of First Lutheran Church, a Cub Scout, Boy Scout leader and Scoutmaster Assistant, active member of AA, and a member of Washburn American Legion Victor B. Wallin Post #12.

Bob enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting with his brothers, tinkering with repair and metal works, being at the family farm and spending any time he could with his family.  Everyone seemed to have a story about brother, dad, grandpa or "Uncle Bob" that would be a source of enjoyment and thankfulness for the wonderful man he was.

Bob is survived by his soul mate Marlene, one son, Christopher Lee (Madison) of rural Mandan, grandchildren: Zachary, Logan, Mason, Matthew, McKenzie, Michael, and Colton; brothers:  Walter (Heidi) of Lakefield, MN and Dwight (Bev) of Beulah, ND; brothers-in-law, Ray (Fran) Stevens, Dave and Tom Stevens all of Bismarck, ND and Tim Stevens of California; sister-in-law, Susan (Terry) Yarns of Grand Island, NE and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two precious sons: Eric and Aaron; parents, Emil and Elizabeth, brother and sister-in-law: Clyde and Eunice; brother and sister-in-law: Tom and Sharon; and father-law and mother-in-law: Roger and Shirley Stevens.

Bob will forever be loved and missed. We will continue to hold him in our hearts and memory always.
