Bob Schell, age 61 of Bismarck and Mercer, ND, died Friday, November 16th, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Mandan.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, Nov. 20th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mercer with Pastor Randy Emgarten officiating. Interment will follow in the Mercer Hillside Cemetery with military rites provided by the Turtle Lake American Legion Post 133.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mercer followed by a 7:00 PM Prayer Service.
Robert Dean was born December 31, 1950 in Turtle Lake, ND to Albert & Regina (Bossert) Schell. He was raised on the family farmstead south of Mercer and graduated from Mercer High School. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1973. Following his discharge, he attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton. Bob was employed with Northwest Industrial Supply in Bismarck for over 30 years where he worked as manager. In 2000, Bob received the Governor's (Ed Schafer) Lifesaving Award for saving the life of wheelchair-bound woman. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, gardening, working on home improvement projects with his son, and being a proud grandpa to his two grandchildren. Bob will be remembered for his big heart and will be greatly missed by those close to him. His family gives a special thank you to the caregivers at Kindred Hospital for their compassion and care in his last days with us.
He is survived by one son & daughter-in-law, Michael & Jordan Schell of Bismarck; two grandchildren, Tristan & Taylor; one brother, Calvin (Barb) Schell of Bismarck; four sisters, Bonnie (Bruce) Hedstrom of Wilton, Ruby (Don) Weible of Wilton, Ella Marie (Harold) Helm of Bismarck, & Sally Hanson of Bismarck; and numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
