Obituary

Reuben J. Wagner, Sr., age 87 of Washburn, ND died Sunday, July 27 at a Bismarck hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 AM Saturday, August 2, 2008;
St. Edwin's Catholic Church – Washburn, ND;
Rev. Frank J. Schuster, Celebrant

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM Friday at St. Edwin's Catholic Church

Interment: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery – rural Wilton, ND

Visitation: 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM Friday at Goetz Funeral Home – Washburn;
Saturday, one hour prior to time of service at the church.

Reuben was born October 30, 1920 at rural Turtle Lake, ND , the third of thirteen children born to Henry & Magdalena (Walker) Wagner. He attended rural school near Washburn for several years. Reuben joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked in South Dakota. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November 1942. Reuben served onboard the U.S.S. Delta in the European & Japanese campaigns of World War II. He was honorably discharged in October 1945. He married Pearle Holodonick on November 14, 1945 in Wilton. They moved to Oregon where Reuben worked as a carpenter until 1948. They returned to North Dakota and made their home on a farm eleven miles northeast of Washburn where they lived and farmed for many years. His wife, Pearle, passed away in June 1982. Reuben enjoyed playing cards and traveling to the casino.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Victor B. Wallin Post #12.

He is survived by four sons, Francis Sr. (Ann) Wagner of Washburn, Reuben Jr. (Kim) Wagner of Washburn, Robert (Tammy) Wagner of Bismarck, Lee (Julie) Wagner of San Diego, CA; one daughter, Ramona (Jim) Trebilcock of Hermiston, OR; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two brothers, Albert Wagner of Bismarck, & Milton (Alice) Wagner of Kent, WA; two sisters, Martha (Max) Hancock of Tucson, AZ, & Thelma Wofford of La Mesa, NM; and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife (Pearle), six brothers, two sisters, & one grandson (Michael).
