Obituary

Reuben Broneske, 89, Bismarck, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2014, at Sanford Care Center, Mandan, surrounded by family. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Goetz Funeral Home in Underwood. Officiating will be the Rev. Sondra Krogstad. Burial will be in the Turtle Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 and 1 hour before services on Saturday all     at the funeral home in Underwood.

Reuben was born September 1 st 1924 to Andrew and Mary (Roth) Broneske in Max, North Dakota. He was raised on the farm with his parents and siblings.

Reuben left the farm in 1944 and started to drill wells in 1949, during the winter months he worked the coal mines. He started his own well drilling business in 1954 and retired in 1999. He married Helen Petterson of Douglas, ND in 1956. Helen passed away in 1997. He enjoyed all people that he worked for and they were all good friends. He enjoyed several moose hunting trips to Canada. One of his favorite hobbies was walleye fishing on Lake Audubon. He was a great dancer, if there was a dance somewhere, you were bound to see him there. He was a great story teller and could tell jokes. During the last few months, he would tell the nurse's jokes that would make them blush.

Reuben is survived by a sister Emma Pulver, Carrington, ND; brothers, Paul Broneske,  Longmont, CO and Walter Broneske, Fargo, ND, and several nieces, nephews and a special friend Violet Jepsen, Minot, ND.

Reuben was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sisters, Annie Boyles and Frieda Akan and brothers Ed, Elmer, Otto and Gerhardt.

Memorial can be sent to Sanford Hospice, Mandan, ND.
