IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Percy Oliver
Fibelstad
February 15, 1937 – October 11, 2020
Percy Oliver Fibelstad, 83, formerly of Bottineau, ND died October 11, 2020 in the St. Aloisius Hospital, Harvey, ND. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life/Graveside Service will be held in the spring at the Mercer Hillside Cemetery, Mercer, ND.
Percy Oliver Fibelstad was born in Sheridan county North Dakota on February 15, 1937 to Jerome and Dagny (Glad) Fibelstad. Percy joined two older siblings, Donna and Dennis and was followed by a younger brother John Mark. Percy grew up in the Prophet Mountains east of Mercer and graduated from McClusky High School. He told many stories of his growing up years and the adventures he and his siblings had growing up on the farm.
Percy and his brother Dennis raised cattle and farmed together for several years. After leaving the farm Percy was involved in a number of ventures and lived in Bismarck, Wahpeton and Bottineau.
Percy was an entrepreneur at heart and traveling salesman who made friends wherever he went. His travels took him to fairs, trade, craft and antique shows throughout North Dakota and eastern Montana. He loved to visit and at times missed a sale because he was more interested in visiting with folks! He was not great about keeping in touch with family but could be counted on to show up when it was least expected or really important.
In 2018 Percy had a medical event which left him unable to live alone and he became a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in Bottineau, ND where the staff loved and cared for him. After a brief hospitalization Percy moved to St. Aloisius in Harvey, ND a couple of weeks ago where the staff cared for him with dignity and respect in his final days.
Percy was preceded in death by his parents Jerome and Dagny Fibelstad and by his brothers Dennis and John and baby Jerome. He is survived by his sister Donna Keisacker and her husband Cecil of Baxter, MN and Mesa, AZ, his cousin Donald Sondrol of Turtle Lake, ND and sisters-in-law, Suzanne Fibelstad of Fargo and Donna Hauser Fibelstad of McClusky as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family.
