Peggy Lee was born April 30, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Lt. Vern L. & Doris D. (Andrew) Borr. Her father was a Navy pilot serving with the Gulf of Mexico Border Patrol. She was very young when her family moved to a farm near Pollock, SD. Peg attended twelve years of school in Pollock graduating from high school in 1963. Her Grandma Borr started her in piano lessons when she was a first grader and she continued lessons for twelve years. Peg played the organ at the Pollock Presbyterian Church where she was a member. She was blessed with three younger brothers and carried many fond memories of growing up in Pollock. Following high school, Peg attended the Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1966. She was then employed with St. Alexius Hospital in the surgical department working for $4 an hour. Peg met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Evans, during these years and they were married on October 25, 1969 at the Silver Bell Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, NV. They made their home on the Evans Ranch south of Turtle Lake, ND and she became a member of the Turtle Lake United Methodist Church. Peg worked at Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake until their daughter, Terri Lynn, was born on Sept. 30, 1971. During these years Peg worked on the farm with her husband and his parents, LeRoy & Dorothy Evans. On November 17, 1979 she gave birth to a son, Brandon Jon. In 1989, she took nursing refresher courses along with EMT Advanced Trauma and Cardiac training and returned to work in the surgery department of the Turtle Lake Hospital. She later worked for St. Alexius Home Health and Hospice where she found heroes in the patients she cared for and their respective families. Peg retired at the age of 60 due to health problems. She was recently diagnosed with cancer and found support in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
