Pearl was born October 4, 1910 near Hazen, ND, the daughter to Henry Edwards & Maggie Mae (Clark) Edwards. She attended rural school in the Red Butte and Greenvale districts of Oliver County, ND. She graduated from Hazen High School in 1928. Pearl grew to love horses and riding them became a favorite past-time of hers. She organized an 8 horse quadrille team along with her friends, and the group displayed their expertise to music at a Hazen dedication.
Pearl continued her education at Dickinson State Teachers College where she received a teaching certificate in 1934. She taught elementary and secondary school in the Center and Hensler, ND area for 14 ½ years. Pearl married M. Clair Cullen on March 21, 1940 at Bismarck, ND, and the couple made their home near Hensler for many years. Clair brought a variation of ranching and rodeo attributes into her life. In 1953, she was appointed the Secretary/Treasurer of the newly organized North Dakota Rodeo Association, and for 11 years, she kept rodeo records that are recognized today in the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame. Pearl enjoyed the many life-long friendships made with rodeo participants and fans. In 1958, she was appointed as postmistress of the Hensler Post Office. Pearl was also active with the local 4-H Club and the Hensler Community Club. Her husband of 61 years, Clair Cullen, passed away in June of 2001. In 2002, she was inducted into the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame and has served as a trustee since her induction.

She is survived by her Nieces & Nephews: Luayn Lehmkuhl of California, Maybelle Deach of Washington state, Jerry Edwards of Idaho, Robert Edwards of Oregon, and Charles (Anna Mae) Cullen of Bismarck, ND.
