Pauline Slovarp, 84, formerly of Washburn, died Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Sanford Hillsboro Care Center. Mass Christian Burial will be at St. Edwin’s Catholic Church on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11:00AM. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Burial will take place in the spring.

Pauline was born November 18th, 1941, to Joseph and Clara (Schmidt) Leier of Kintyre, ND. She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1959. She lived and worked in Bismarck, and this is where she meet Richard (Dick) Slovarp. They were married in Bismarck on July 11, 1964. They made their home in McKenzie, ND until they moved to Washburn, ND in 1969. Pauline lived in Washburn until 2023 when she moved to Hillsboro, ND. She resided at the Sanford Hillsboro Care Center until her death.

Pauline was a very active person. She loved bowling, playing softball, playing cards, and was active in St. Edwin's Catholic Church. She was known for her large garden that she shared with her friends. She could be seen walking all around town and would be known to stop by and visit anyone on the spur of the moment. She especially loved goofing around and was involved in many practical jokes over the years. If you knew her at all, chances are you have a Pauline story to tell.

She is survived by her children, Kim (Tim) Luithle, Hillsboro, ND, and Rich Slovarp, Washburn. Five grandchildren; Steph (Zach) Hinkle, Hillsboro, Jake (Jamie) Luithle, Otsego, MN, Isaac Luithle, Scottsdale, AZ, Hannah Luithle, Gilbert, AZ and Sarah Luithle, Grand Forks, ND. Four great-grandchildren; Paxton and Emersyn Hinkle and Maddie and Ben Luithle, her siblings, Martin (Maggie) Leier, Caroline (Pete) Glatt, Christine Schwartzenberger, Lorraine (Andy) Piatz, and Larry (MaryAnn) Leier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; siblings, Johnny Leier, Julius Leier and Leonard Leier. Her in-laws, Jerome Schwartzenberger, Monica Leier, Marcella Leier, and Thersia Leier.
