Pauline Johnson, age 93 of Wilton, ND entered eternal life the afternoon of Thursday, May 12th, 2011 surrounded by family and loved ones.

Pauline was born January 17, 1918 to Nick & Anastacia (Kanski) Krush in Wilton. She was baptized in the Saints Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Wilton. Pauline endured infantile polio as a toddler and regained the ability to walk through the ministrations of a faith healer. Pauline grew up on surrounding farms in the Wilton area and attended various country schools before graduating from Wilton High School in 1935. She continued her education at Dickinson State College and received a Standard Degree in teaching. Pauline taught in numerous one-room country schools and also in the towns of McClusky, New Salem, Glen Ullin, Driscoll, and Underwood during her 20+ year teaching career. She especially enjoyed working with students in middle school. As a young adult, Pauline was confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She married Kenneth M. Johnson on Sept. 10, 1958 and they began their married life on a farm 7 miles east of Wilton. In 1959, their daughter Mary Beth was born. Pauline frequently worked as a substitute teacher in local schools. She loved the outdoors, whether that be gardening, helping with farm work, or just listening to the birds sing. She enjoyed working with animals, especially dogs and horses. Pauline & Kenny moved into Wilton in 1993. Kenny passed away in September 2003. Pauline's faith was strong throughout her life. She was a long-time member of Sunne Lutheran Church and served as Sunday school superintendent for many years. She also served as a 4-H leader and was a member of the Still Homemakers Club, the Wilton Seniors Center, and the American Legion Auxiliary of Wilton. She was a Minnesota Twins fan whether they were winning or losing. Pauline enjoyed spending this past Easter weekend and Mothers Day at her home in Wilton. Godspeed good and faithful servant!
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth Johnson of Bismarck; sister Frances Krush and brother Anton (Rose) Krush of Wilton, sister Delores Baranick of Moorhead, MN, sister Eva Wright of Billings, MT, and sister Katherine (Ed) Rundquist of Poulsbo, WA; sister-in-law Phyllis (Leslie) Falkenstein of Wilton; many very special nieces and nephews; and her loving caregivers Sherry Buchholtz and Randy Hinson.
