Paul Bergquist, age 67 of Turtle Lake, ND, formerly of rural Washburn, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at his residence.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, Jan. 27th at First Lutheran Church in Washburn with Pastor Betty Stedman (of Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake) officiating.

Inurnment will take place at a later date at Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.

Paul Gene Bergquist was born Sept. 4, 1943 in Turtle Lake, ND to Ernest & Florence (Backman) Bergquist. He was raised on the family farm northeast of Washburn and attended rural school. Paul graduated from Washburn High School in 1961 and attended one fall quarter at NDSU in Fargo. Due to the untimely death of his father, Paul returned to the family homestead to help farm and ranch. He married Claudette Carr on Jan. 30, 1965 and from this union two children were born, Karen and Warren. Paul continued to live and work on the family farm until his health declined. He enjoyed playing cards and attending auction sales.

He is survived by one daughter, Karen (Richard) Hanson of Turtle Lake; one son, Warren (Dawn) Bergquist of Washburn; five grandchildren, Rachel, Joshua, Jacob, Brenden, & Ashley; his mother, Florence Hanson of McClusky; two brothers, Richard (Patricia) Bergquist of El Paso, IL, & William (Lois) Bergquist of Golden Valley, MN; & one sister, Claudia (Lloyd) Thompson of Grafton, ND.

Paul was preceded in death by his father (Ernest).
