Orrin Berthold Enockson was born in Makoti, ND to Ole and Martha (Ulvan) Enockson on January 21, 1915. He attended school up through the 8th grade in the rural Makoti area. He moved to Washburn in 1931to work for Milton Sauer who introduced Orrin to his cousin, Ruby Reiser and as they say, the rest is history. In 1935, Orrin attended business school in Bismarck until he ran out of money. This was during the Depression so Orrin worked several jobs, including traveling to Washington State, picking fruit up and down the West Coast. In 1940, Orrin went to work with his brother, Emel, on a farm in Moffitt, ND. This employment enabled him and Ruby to get married on November 12, 1940. Shortly following the birth of their first child, Dwight Orrin in 1943, they moved to Washburn and farmed the John Schuler farm north of town for two years. In 1945, they moved to the Everson farm where they farmed until the early 1970's when they retired. They turned the operation over to their son Dwight and moved into Washburn.
Orrin and Ruby's second child, Duane Ellis, died at birth in 1946. Their daughters, Cleo Denice and Candace Ruby were born in 1948 and 1950 respectively. His children were a most important part of Orrin's life and it was his and Ruby's goal to make it possible for them all to go to college. Orrin enjoyed being involved in his community. Orrin joined the Washburn Baptist Church in 1952 and served in several capacities including as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and as Chairman of the building committee for the new church. He was very involved in the development of the Crystal Springs Baptist Camp and also served on the board of the Bismarck Baptist Home. Orrin was active in Farm Bureau where he worked together with other county presidents to help bring about the North Dakota Wheat Commission. He was also a member of the Washburn Lions Club and the Sverdrup School Board. Orrin loved to travel. When it would be rainy for a few days, he would gather his family into the car and off they would go. Orrin and Ruby traveled to all fifty states in the US, as well as Canada, Mexico, Europe and Africa. They were winter snowbirds in Arizona for 25 enjoyable years and traveled with the Good Sam Club. Orrin served as lay chaplain both in their park in Arizona and for Good Sam Club. In 1990, Orrin and Ruby moved to Bismarck, living first in a condo in Capital View Estates and then in the Waterford on West Century. Both were special experiences for them. In 2005, they went to live in the Prairieview Nursing home where Ruby passed on in 2006.

He is survived by his children: Dwight (Elaine Schacher) of Washburn, Cleo (Loren Hagen) of Oak Park, IL, and Candace Enockson of Forest Park, IL; his grandchildren: Ken (Michelle Miller), Melody (Dan Scott), Terry (Regina Kaus) Tammy, and Melissa Breitkreuz; and his great-grandchildren: Abigail, Isaiah, and Adin Enockson and Collin Scott.

Orrin was preceded in death by his wife (Ruby), his infant son (Duane), and siblings (Emel, Erna Sauer, Agnes, Tony, Juel, Kenneth, and Norman).
