Obituary

Nicholas "Nick" C. Reisenauer, 87, Washburn, ND died September 17, 2020 at Miller Pointe-a Prospera Community, Mandan, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at St. Edwin's Catholic Church with Father Patrick Cunningham officiating. Due to Covid-19 masks will be required at the service. Interment will be held in the Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn.

Nick was born April 16, 1933 at St. Anthony, ND the son of Christ and Rose (Leingang) Reisenauer. He was raised on the family farm near St. Anthony and graduated from high school at Assumption Abbey in Richardton, ND. He then attended Dickinson State College and received a country school teaching certificate. Nick taught in a country school for two years. He then went to work for Montana-Dakota Utilities (MDU) where he worked for 42 years, retiring in early 1995. He married Anna Marie Hartman on June 26, 1961 in Carson, ND. They moved to Washburn in August of 1962 when Nick was transferred with MDU. Nick and Anna Marie had five children, Tony, Cecilia, Karen, Adam and David.

Over the years, Nick was a volunteer fireman for 40 years, a local Civic Club member for over 40 years, organized the tractor trek for Washburn's 125 th anniversary celebration, served as a member of Fort Mandan's restoration committee, past member of the Lion's Club and Washburn School Board. Nick was also a founding member of the Genie Watt Credit Union, was a Boy Scout leader, committee member to establish the bridge over the Missouri River at Washburn and volunteer at the McLean County Museum. He was very active in his Catholic faith, he was a member of St. Edwin's Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and served in many other capacities. Nick served on the Bismarck Diocesan Council and was a founding member and 4 th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus – St. Edwin's Council. He enjoyed volunteering at the Washburn Public School where was often seen in the evening taking tickets with Ann at high school sporting events with his radio and Bismarck Tribune in hand. He also volunteered at the Hostfest and throughout the community of Washburn. Nick was a 65 year member of the Bismarck Eagles Club and also a Golden Age Member.

Nick will always be remembered for his story-telling, jokes, hat and listening to old time music. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, games, vacationing and sightseeing excursions.

Nick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna Marie of Washburn; his children, Anthony "Tony" Reisenauer of Bismarck, Cecilia (Joseph) Day of Phoenix, AZ, Karen (Richard) Rude of Minot, ND, Adam (Terri) Reisenauer of Phoenix, AZ and David (Maria) Reisenauer of Fishers, IN; his grandchildren, Emily and Joshua Day of Phoenix, AZ, Amanda and Aleaha Rude of Minot, Samantha, Nicholas, Jesse, Erika and Jake Reisenauer of Phoenix, Garrett and Kayla Reisenauer of Fishers, IN; his brothers, Jack (Marilyn) Reisenauer of Bismarck and Leo (Karen) Reisenauer of Mandan; his sisters, Rosemary Horning of Bismarck and Leona (Bill) Koch of Mandan; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Dian Hartman of Carson, ND, Emma Hartman of Dickinson, Pauline Hartman of Carson, Paul (Doris) Hartman of Carson, Casper (Melodie) Hartman of Carson and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren; two brothers, Jerome (Katherine) Reisenauer and an infant brother, Adam Reisenauer; his mother and father-in-law, Peter and Margaret Hartman; his brothers-in-law, Jake Hartman, Joseph Hartman and Henry Horning; and two nephews, Jason Hartman and Jimmy Horning.
