Nancy C. Brown, 62, Fargo, ND formerly of Washburn, ND died September 27. 2013 at her residence in Fargo, under the care of hospice..
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the Washburn United Methodist Church with Pastor Peder Anderson officiating.
Inurnment will be held in the Parshall Community Cemetery, Parshall, ND
Nancy was born September 30, 1950 in Minot, ND the daughter of Arnold and Lois (Hay) Hilleren. She was raised on a farm SW of Parshall. She passed away September 27, 2013 in Fargo, ND after battling Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) for 5 Years. During this time period she received many miracles and gifts from god especially the support of friends and family. Nancy's family was active in the Lutheran Church and she was baptized in December of 1950. She was active in 4-H and attended many award trips including a trip to Chicago. Nancy graduated from Parshall High School in 1968 and received a degree in Home Economics from NDSU in 1972. She worked for the Extension office in Sioux county. She married Ronald Brown in 1976 at Parshall. Following their marriage they lived in Minot, Minneapolis, and Mandan before moving to Washburn. They were later divorced. Nancy worked for West River Transportation for several years and as a CNA in Parshall and Underwood. She also worked for the Census Bureau and as a nutritionist for the extension office. Nancy was instrumental in getting the soccer program and the Teen Center started in Washburn. She was also active with the Dollars for Scholars program and a very avid NDSU Bison fan.
She is survived by her sons: Travis (Jennifer) Brown of Lillington, NC, Andrew (Amy) Brown of Bismarck, ND; her daughter: Melissa (Scott) Anderson of Fargo, ND; 5 grandchildren; Jeremiah, Abigail, Hannah, Alexia,Brown and baby Anderson; mother: Lois Hilleren of Rugby, ND; sisters: Kristi (Neil) Cabbage of Dallas, OR, Barbara (Loren) Dramstad of Binford, ND, Lynda (Tom) Childress of Rugby, ND, Marci (Terry) Koepplin of Elgin, ND, Kari (Roger) Christianson of Parshall, ND and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father and a sister Cheri Thompson.
In lieu of flowers the families prefers memorials to Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo and the ND Women's Way.
