Myrtle Biesterfeld, age 92 of Wilton, ND passed away peacefully on January 6th, 2011 at the Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 10th at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilton with Pastor Cathy Bliss officiating.

Interment will be held at a later date at Riverview Cemetery in Wilton.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home in Washburn and will continue Monday, one hour prior to time of service at the church.

Myrtle was born March 28, 1918 on a farm near Wilton, ND, the first of three children born to Mathias & Katherine Binsfeld. She spent her childhood on the farm and attended rural school. Myrtle married Robert A. Biesterfeld on October 16, 1937 in Washburn. They lived in a cabin near what was known as the "Washout" near the Missouri River west of Wilton for a short time. They then moved to a farmstead in Burleigh County for a few years before making their permanent home on the family farm west of Wilton. Together they farmed, milked cows, and raised cattle and chickens for many years. Myrtle also tended to a large garden which included many beautiful flowers. Her husband Robert "Bob" passed away in 1996 and she continued to live on the farm with her son Ken and daughter-in-law Darlene and their family as neighbors. Myrtle became a resident of the Prairieview Nursing Home in December 2010.

She is survived by one son, Ken (Darlene) Biesterfeld of Wilton; one daughter, Kathy (Waldo) Westrum of Turtle Lake; six grandchildren, Jack, Jeff, Jesse, Janine, Sherri, & Darren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers (Bob John & Babe Binsfeld), & one son-in-law (Darrel Landsiedel).
