Obituary

Mildred Neuharth, age 83 of Chanhassen, MN, formerly of Turtle Lake, died April 19th, 2011 after a brief stay at the Good Samaritan Society in Waconia, MN. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, April 23rd at Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake with Pastor Betty J. Stedman officiating. Burial will follow in the Turtle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM Friday at Goetz Funeral Home in Turtle Lake.

Mildred was born September 14th, 1927 in Underwood, ND, the daughter of Albert and Gerda Wille. In 1932, her family moved to Washburn where she was raised and later graduated from Washburn High School. Mildred married James Tjenstrom in 1946. They lived in North Dakota, Idaho, and Washington until James' death in 1959. Mildred returned to Washburn with their two sons thereafter. Mildred married Emil Neuharth in 1961 and moved to Turtle Lake where they raised their sons. They were both very active community members. In 2008, they moved to Minnesota to be closer to their son and family.

Mildred enjoyed working as a bookkeeper at the Turtle Lake Community Memorial Hospital for 20 years. She developed many friendships and life long memories while working there. Mildred was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake and a 49 year Royal member of the American Legion Auxiliary. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, reading, cross-stitch, and playing cards until her eyesight began to fail her later in life. She cherished time spent with her friends and family and thoroughly enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.

Mildred is survived by her husband Emil of Chanhassen, MN; one son, Brian and daughter-in-law Mary Tjenstrom of Victoria, MN; five grandchildren, Stacy (Eric) Brandenburg of Duluth, MN, Tanja (Joseph) Sclafani of Cary, NC, Danielle Westphal of Fargo, Eric Tjenstrom and Allison Tjenstrom of Victoria, MN; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents (Albert & Gerda), husband (James Tjenstrom), one son (William Tjenstrom), step-mother (Edna Grandstrom), & 2 brothers (Carl and Gerald).
