Obituary

Michael Reuben Scholl, age 60, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012 at his home in Washburn following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place & no memorial service will be held.

Mike was born to Charles & Joy (Wiese) Scholl of Washburn on September 23, 1951. His family moved to California in 1957, where he resided until returning to Washburn at the age of 23. On December 30, 1975, he married Carol Singer and they made their home in Washburn. He was employed by Nelson Lumber, & later by Wagon Wheel Lumber of Washburn for several years. In 1991, Mike started a home repair business and his little yellow truck became a familiar local sign that carpentry projects were in progress.

Mike's life was all too short, but his friends and family will treasure many happy memories of a sincere & caring man. He enjoyed hiking, camping, history, travel, & sports, particularly baseball, at every level played.

All who knew him are invited to celebrate his life in their own way. In lieu of flowers, he expressed the wish that memorial contributions be directed to the Washburn Baseball Field Renovation Project c/o Todd Schreiner, 1060B Custer Dr. Washburn, ND or the McLean County Historical Society, c/o Vivian Merkel, PO Box 345, Washburn ND 58577.

Mike is survived by his wife Carol of Washburn; his siblings Nancy (Everett) McCormick of Riverside, CA, Donald (Kathy) Scholl of Lake Arrowhead, CA, & Larry (Karen) Scholl of Bismarck, ND; his mother-in-law, Leora Singer of Washburn; seven nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents (Charles & Joy Scholl), and his father-in-law, Wilbert Singer.
