Michael J. Lester, age 51 of Washburn, ND died Friday, May 7, 2010 in Washburn.
Memorial Service: 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 11, 2010;
First Lutheran Church - Washburn;
Rev. Joel Sherer, officiating.
Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery – Washburn
Visitation will be held one prior to time of service at the church
Michael was born February 25, 1959 in Bismarck, ND to Frank & Diana (Dietz) Lester. He graduated from Mandan High School in 1977. While attending high school, he helped his father with construction jobs and learned the trade of carpentry. In 1979, Michael became manager of the Dakota Lanes Bowling Alley in Washburn until its closing in 1994. On February 14, 1981, he married the love of his life, Shelly Kay Lind. Together they raised two sons, Darren and Justin. Michael worked for several construction contractors and in 1996 started his own construction business, M & S Building and Remodeling. He took great pride in his work and in his family. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Washburn and a former member of the Washburn Volunteer Fire Department. Michael enjoyed hunting & bowling. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We love you Michael.
He is survived by his wife, Shelly; two sons, Darren and Justin; parents, Frank & Diana, all of Washburn; grandmother, Lulu Lester of Wilton; three brothers, William (Donna) of Bismarck, Daniel (Colleen) of Glendale, AZ, and Wayne of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, Christine Kjonaas of Duluth, MN, & Pamela (Les) Kuntz of San Bernardino, CA; mother-in-law, Millie Leidholm of Washburn; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, & cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother (Franklin, Jr.), two grandfathers, one grandmother, & father-in-law (Lloyd Leidholm).
