Meinhardt Schock, age 72 of Underwood, ND, died Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Turtle Lake Community Memorial Hospital.

Meinhardt "Meiny" Schock was born October 6, 1933 at Turtle Lake, ND the eldest of 11 children born to Alexander & Martha (Presser) Schock. He attended rural school near Turtle Lake and enlisted in the US Army in October 1956. Meiny was stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, TX, Frankfurt, Germany, and Fort Sheridan in Chicago, IL. He was honorably discharged from the US Army in November 1962. He returned to Turtle Lake, ND where he was employed with Zwicker Motors before moving to Bismarck, ND. He married Darlys Leidholm of Underwood, ND on August 30, 1959 at the Birka Lutheran Church of rural Underwood, ND. The couple made their home in Underwood in February 1960. Meiny was employed as a mechanic with Schaffer Ford for 14 years. He also owned and operated Meiny's Bar in Underwood for 4 ½ years. He worked for the City of Underwood for 16 years until retiring in September of 1995. His wife Darlys worked for the Medcenter One Prairieview Nursing Home for 24 years. Meiny was a charter member of the McLean County Speedway and a member of the Underwood Volunteer Fire & E.M.S. Departments. He was also an active member of Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the National Rifle Association, and the North American Elk Foundation.

He is survived by his wife: Darlys Schock of Underwood; Daughters: Debra Schock of Denver, CO, Cindy Melcher and husband Mark of Mobridge, SD, Melissa Boring of Naperville, IL, Suzanne Blessum and husband Jay of Minot, ND; Sons: Robert Schock and wife Sharon Armstrong of San Antonio, TX, Todd Schock and wife Dawn of Bismarck, ND; 12 Grandchildren: Sean Baldizan, Stephanie Melcher, Brandon Schock, Sarah Melcher, Lanaya Baldizan, Paige Schock, Parker Schock, Samantha Blessum, Nate Yancey, Cedric Boring, Joshua Schock, & Connor Blessum; 3 Brothers: Ray (Sharon) Schock of Bismarck, ND, Ernie (Linda) Schock of Turtle Lake, ND, Richard (Sandy) Schock of Wilton, ND; 7 Sisters: Loretta (Jerry) Neff of Turtle Lake, ND, Sally (Delmar) Krein of Bismarck, ND, Erna Schock of Bismarck, ND, Marlene Mertz of Bismarck, ND, Caroline (Bill) Mertz of Bismarck, ND, Esther (Dave) Mehrer of Mosinee, WI, & Ann (Walter) Friesby of Medford, OR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law (Willard Leidholm), & mother-in-law (Marie Thrailkill Leidholm).
