Obituary

Maureen Hochsprung 78, Turtle lake, ND died January 29, 2016 at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison, ND. Her family which was always so important to her, was by her side. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service all at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Sondra Krogstad will officiate. Maureen's final resting place will be next to her husband Bob and Baby Girl Hochsprung at St. Olaf Cemetery, Rural Turtle Lake.

Maureen Evelyn (Nelson) Hochsprung was the eighth child born to Marcus and Edith (Peterson) Nelson on July 5, 1937 at Matthew's Maternity Home in Turtle Lake, ND. Maureen's mother Edith had birth announcements made with the name "Pearl Evelyn" until oldest brother Merlin asked his folks if his baby sister could please have his initials. Thus Maureen Evelyn was born.

Maureen graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1955. She worked at Turtle Lake Rexall Drug from 1955 to early 2000s. Taking some time off to raise her children. She married Bob Hochsprung on November 17, 1957 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. In 1961, they built their home in Turtle Lake where they raised their children and hosted many family and friends. Together they were blessed with a daughter and son, Paula Hochsprung and Rory Hochsprung.

Maureen was active in Hospital Auxiliary, Homemakers Club, Legion Auxiliary, and taught Sunday school and Bible School when her children were young. Maureen enjoyed fishing and entertaining at Crooked Lake, where they had a cabin for many years. Maureen was also very active in her children's activities and was always very supportive of them through their years.

Maureen and Bob were blessed with 4 grandchildren, Brandon Schock, Paige Schock, Parker Schock, and Morgan Hochsprung.

As Maureen's health deteriorated in 2013, she moved to Pick City, ND to live with Rory, Julie and Morgan. As her health continued to fail, she moved to the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison, ND, where she lived until her passing. Maureen's family would like to thank all of the staff for the great care and love that was provided.

Maureen is survived by her daughter, Paula Hochsprung and special friend Chad McCabe of Bismarck, ND; her son, Rory (Julie) Hochsprung of Pick City, ND; her grandchildren, Brandon Schock, Paige Schock, Parker Schock, and Morgan Hochsprung; her brother and sisters-in-law, Merlin (Violet) Nelson of Bismarck, Mary Ann Nelson of Roseville, MN, Ruth Nathan of Turtle Lake; a brother-in-law, Clarence Okerson of Velva, ND; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Albert (Doris) Hochsprung of Minot, ND, Marjorie Hornberger of Vancouver, WA, Lou Ella Anderson of Velva, Marlys (Roy) House of Missouri and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2011, an infant daughter, two nephews (Larry Okerson & Kevin Hochsprung), one niece (Nicole Ekstrom), her brothers and sisters-in-law (Neil and Dorothy Nelson, Orval Nelson, Don and Virginia Nelson), her sisters and brothers-in-law, (Blanche Okerson, Frances and Wally Bastian, Eunice and Milt Bradford, Richard Nathan and Irvin Bauer), her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, (Ted And Darlene Hochsprung , Wally Hornberger, and Bill Anderson).
