Mathilda Hofer-Flemmer, age 91 of Bismarck, formerly of Turtle Lake, ND, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2012 at a Bismarck hospital.
Funeral Services will be held 2:30 P.M. Sunday, May 13th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake with Pastor Betty Stedman officiating. Interment will follow in the Turtle Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, one hour prior to time of service at the church..
Mathilda "Tillie" was born Sept. 8, 1920 in rural Turtle Lake, ND, the oldest of 5 daughters born to John & Julia (Beich) Geohring. She attended country school through the 8th grade and then attended Bismarck High School. She married Martin Hofer on Sept. 17, 1938 in Forsythe, MT. In 1947, they moved back to Turtle Lake where they farmed for many years. Tillie enjoyed gardening and raising flowers, as well as genealogy study and writing letters. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active with the WELCA organization and served as a Sunday School teacher. Tillie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a 50 year member of the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Her husband Martin passed away in April 1982. She later married Walter Flemmer of Turtle Lake on January 17, 1998. Walt passed away in 2006. Tillie became a resident of the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison in January 2010. She then moved to the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck in March 2012.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Elaine Hofer of Turtle Lake; grandchildren, Kim (Bill Erdmann) and their children Jordan & Joshua, of Bismarck; Kory (CoCo) Hofer and their children Zakory & MaKena, of Montevideo, MN; & grandson, Chad (Jill) Boehm & family of Antioch, IL.
Tillie was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son (Gene Hofer), one grandson (Scott), & four sisters (Lila Geohring, Freida Lerum, Vi Begeman, & Marian Sypnieski).
