IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary
Leidholm
April 28, 1937 – January 15, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Leidholm, a devoted wife, amazing mother and cherished grandmother, who died January 15, 2025, peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on April 28, 1937, in Stanley, ND, Mary pursued her passion for education by earning a degree from North Dakota State University. She began her teaching career in New Salem, where fate led her to meet the love of her life and future husband, Ron.
Mary was a proud mother of five children, she embraced motherhood with a heart full of joy and a home full of laughter. She was her children's biggest cheerleader, attending school activities, sporting events or whatever else they were involved in, and celebrating their victories as if they were her own.
Her love extended beyond her children to her grandchildren, who were her greatest treasures. She delighted in staying up late with them, sharing popcorn, and watching Disney movies, creating memories filled with magic and love.
As we mourn the loss of Mary, we also celebrate the depth of the impact she had on our lives. Our hearts are broken, but we find solace in the knowledge that we were blessed to have such an amazing individual as part of our family. Mary will be dearly missed but forever remembered with love and gratitude.
Mary leaves behind a brother, Patrick "Pat" (Cathy) Archer, and a legacy of five children: Jeff (Nancy), Jim (Lori), Steve (Shelly), Kelly (Jodi) and Patty (Tom), grandchildren, Kayla, Kadie, Kelcie (David), Jake (Meg), Alisha (Scott), Lauryn, Matt, Alex, Sam, Steven (Brooke), Michael (Sarah), Sara (Alec) and great grandchildren, Lydia, Mesa, Aidan, Sutton, Rowan, Amelia, August and Evelyn, and a host of family and friends who were blessed to know her.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ronald (Ron) Leidholm, her parents, Harold and Irene Archer, and sister Ardith Matulenko.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Edgewood Village, who provided unwavering support, kindness, and care to Mary and Ron since they made it their home in 2021.
A celebration of Mary's life will take place on Saturday, beginning with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edwin's Catholic Church in Washburn, North Dakota. A luncheon will be served afterward to honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital in Mary's memory.
