Marvin Leland Schuh, 90, Underwood, ND passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Benedictine Living Center in Garrison, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Monday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Underwood. Interment will be held at St. Bonaventure's Catholic Cemetery, Underwood. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday with a rosary at 7:00 all at the church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Marvin was born to Adam and Pauline (Walcker) Schuh on July 12, 1927 and grew up on farm six miles west of Underwood. He attended country school and graduated from Underwood High School in 1945. He served in the US Army and was discharged in 1947. He married his high school sweetheart Frances Eisenmann on July 20, 1948 and they raised their family in Underwood. Marvin has always been a sports fan of the Underwood Comets, Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, cards, board games and Sunday drives with family and stopping for ice cream. Marvin operated the Standard Oil gas station in Underwood for a short period and worked for several construction companies. He worked for Freborg Construction building and remodeling homes for 29 years until his retirement in 1992. He was very proud of building his own home with his family. After retirement Marvin enjoyed traveling with his wife to many locations to visit family and friends.
Marvin was a longtime member of the local VFW serving as Commander at one time and was also a member of St. Bonaventure's Catholic Church for 69 years.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Wilbur and DeRell, one sister Doreen.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Frances "PeeWee" Schuh; sons Mike (Ann) Schuh of Fargo, ND, Layton (June) Schuh of Hayesville, NC and Jim Schuh of Bangor, WI; daughters Kathi (Randy) Cox of Douglas, WY and Patty (Chuck) Finneman of Underwood; twenty grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
