Marvin M. Malmedal, 80, of Underwood, ND died Sunday, March 16, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be 11:00AM Saturday, March 22, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Underwood, ND. Visitation will be Friday, March 21 from 5:00-7:00PM at Goetz Funeral Home Chapel, Washburn, ND. Burial will be in Underwood Cemetery.
Marvin was born on March 26, 1944, in Cando, ND to Fred and Verda Malmedal. He grew up in Tilden, ND and attended grade school in Brinsmade, ND and graduated high school from Minnewauken, ND.
He was a hardworking man. He started working at the age of 13 on neighboring farms and worked in the grain elevator for his dad. After high school, Marvin furthered his education by completing a correspondence course in accounting through the LaSalle Institute of Chicago. He then was employed as bookkeeper and office manager at Nakota Hatchery and Produce of Devils Lake, ND.
On August 9, 1969, He married Diane Keller at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond, ND. They have two sons, Greg and Kevin. Marvin and Diane lived in Devils Lake, ND, Fargo, ND, Fort Dodge, IA, Esmond, ND, and for the last 34 years, in Underwood, ND. During this time, Marvin worked in the insurance business. He worked for various companies throughout the years and retired from First Security Bank of Underwood. After retiring, He drove bus for the Underwood school. He enjoyed this job and liked to watch the students in their various activities.
Marvin was a member and elder of St. John's Lutheran Church in Underwood. He loved to visit with friends and joke with and tease his family. His hobbies included hunting, golfing, and gardening. He loved to walk and would do about 5 miles a day, rain or shine.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane, sons, Greg (friend, Karla Jan), Kevin (Nikki), grandsons, Brendan (Olivia), Trevor, and Chance, granddaughter, Taryn, great grandsons, Bradley and Michael, sisters, Shirley Tostenson and Carol Stubbs. Numerous in laws, nieces, and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clyde Stebleton, and numerous in laws and family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Underwood Ambulance Service.
