Marvin M. Heil, 86, formerly of Underwood, ND died September 18, 2016 at his sons residence in Bismarck under hospice care. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday September 23, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Underwood. Officiating will be Pastor Les Wolfgram. Interment will be held in the Underwood Cemetery with military rite provided by the Turtle Lake American Legion. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday all at the church in Underwood.
Marvin was born May 30, 1930 on a farm 15 miles south of Kief, ND the son of Fred and Katie (Hoffer) Heil. He was the youngest of nine children. Marvin worked for area farmers until enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1951. He was stationed in Africa for 19 months and returned to U.S., where he was stationed in Rosewell, New Mexico. He was discharged in 1955 and then he worked for Force Construction in Drake, ND. Marvin married Ida Hieb on December 24, 1967 in Finley, ND. From 1962 until 1977 Marvin worked on missle sites throughout North Dakota. In 1978 he went to work for area power plants until his retirement in 1988.
Following the death his wife Ida in 2006, Marvin suffered a massive heart attack the day after her funeral. After his recovery he moved in with his son Jim (Sheila) and their daughter Larissa. He lived with them until his death.
Marvin is survived by his son Jim (Sheila) Heil of Bismarck; his grandchildren, Babett Heil of McClusky, ND, Jamie Heil of Bismarck, Shain Heil of Sidney, MT, and Larissa Heil of Bismarck; his great grandchildren, Jesse Heil of Camp Pendelton, CA, Wyatt and Alexis Heil of Bottineau, ND, Eli Heil of McClusky, ND, and Ryder Heil of Sidney, MT. and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 2006, 4 brothers, John, Lenard, Harold, and Ed, 4 sisters, Bertha, Florence, Esther, and Arleen.
He will always be missed and in our hearts forever. Love you Pops !!
