Martha Birst, 92, passed into her heavenly home on Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at Bismarck Baptist Home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Nov. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake, with Pastor Scott Bauman officiating.
Burial will be at the Turtle Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Martha was born to John and Elizabeth (Waltz) Krein Nov. 25, 1917, at Tuttle. She was one of 12 children.
On June 12, 1938, Martha married Dan Birst at Turtle Lake. They farmed in the Turtle Lake-Mercer area until their retirement in Bismarck.
Martha was an extremely kind and generous person. She truly found joy and happiness in following the Biblical principle that "It is better to give than to receive."
Martha is survived by her husband, Dan of Bismarck; daughter, Gladys Weight of Bismarck; and son, Kenneth of Bismarck; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Esther Helmer, Sacramento, Calif., and Viola Schmidt, San Bernardino, Calif.; her brothers, George (Doris) Krein, Yuma, Ariz., and Rudolph (Eveline) Krein, Bismarck.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Caroline Schock, Lydia Dockter and Emma Johnson; four brothers, Henry, Gust, Philip and Emil; one son-in-law, Arlan; and one daughter-in-law, Madeline.
The family prefers memorials to the Bismarck Baptist Home or to the charity of their choice.
