Oberg
January 3, 1928 – August 9, 2017
Marjorie J. (Hansen) Oberg of rural Wilton, 89 years of age, passed away August 9, 2017 at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 12 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilton ND with the Pastor Kevin Kaufmann officiating. A time of fellowship and lunch will follow the service with internment at Riverview Cemetery, Washburn ND. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday August 11, 2017 at the Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn ND with a time of fellowship and sharing at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Marjorie J. Hansen was born January 3, 1928 at Bismarck ND to Martha and Arthur Hansen. She attended country school and Wilton High School followed by Minot State Teachers College. She taught several years at Grass Lake Country School.
Marjorie married Gerald Oberg of rural Wilton in Washburn on December 22, 1947. They farmed their entire life and raised five children
Marjorie was an inspiration to her family and all who knew her, living an active independent life on the farm up until the time of her death.
Marjorie was well known for her cooking and warm hospitality, making countless relatives and friends welcome in her home. Her greatest treasure was her family, children and grandchildren. She was known as an excellent seamstress, sewing for herself, family and others as well as sewing for church missions. She was an active 4H Leader, teaching young girls homemaking skills. She served in the Wilton Legion Auxiliary. As a couple, Marge and Jerry enjoyed square dancing and visiting with friends and relatives.
Marjorie leaves her family and will be forever missed by four sons, Neil (Jo) of Milliken, CO, Lynn (Melanie) of Washburn, Perry of Washburn and Emil "Skip" (Pam) of Wilton; one daughter Jeral Jan (Terry) Trzpuc of Washburn; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
She is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, William Hansen, Wilton ND and Vivian Hansen, Wilton, ND; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty Brostrom, Bismarck ND, Mary Schriner, Littleton CO, Jean Workman, Portland OR and Clayton Carlson, Bismarck, ND and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald Oberg, one sister Martha (Toodle) Carlson, one brother Robert Hansen and one granddaughter Mikala Jordan.
